Adam Trovato

Principal, Simplify Energy Consultants Ltd.

Adam is a Co-founder and Principal of Simplify Energy Consultants, an Alberta-based firm specializing in outcome-based energy management. With over a decade of experience in energy consulting and building science, Adam has managed hundreds of projects across the commercial, municipal, and institutional sectors, helping clients secure over $50 million in sustainability and energy efficiency funding. Focused on Indigenous energy sovereignty, Simplify Energy is currently spearheading the energy auditing phase of the Four Winds & Associates Deep Retrofit Accelerator Initiative (DRAI), delivering over 240 energy audits to Indigenous organizations across Alberta. Adam’s leadership extends to industry governance and education; he serves as the Vice President of the Association of Energy Engineers (Alberta Chapter) and sits on the Advisory Committees for NAIT’s Alternative Energy Technology Program and NorQuest College’s Energy Management Program. His contributions to the field earned him the 2023 Young Energy Professional of the Year Award from the Association of Energy Engineers.

Alex Hill

Partner, Financial Lead, Dunsky Energy + Climate Advisors

Alex Hill is a Partner at Dunsky Energy + Climate Advisors. He brings over 20 years of experience directing large-scale energy efficiency, demand-side management (DSM), and distributed energy resource (DER) potential studies across North America. He has led the delivery of more than 30 potential assessments, including studies with a deep analysis of energy efficiency potentials in CO, MN, MA, RI, NH,MB, NL, PE, and ON - to name a few. Alex also leads Dunsky’s clean energy and building retrofit financing practice, performing feasibility studies, developing financing strategy, and designing financing programs and products that have represented over $2Bn in funds under management. Before joining Dunsky, Alex spent over a decade in sustainability and clean energy roles, managing groundbreaking projects such as Canada’s first integrated geoexchange–solar energy system and the country’s first net-zero energy condominium, while also consulting on energy efficiency financing, environmental policy, and sustainability planning for clients across North America. He holds a Master’s in Civil (Environmental) Engineering and a Bachelor’s in Chemical Engineering from McGill University.

Amy Spark

Program Specialist, Retrofit Accelerator, Alberta Ecotrust Foundation

Amy began her career as an environmental educator for children and youth. Building on that love of the outdoors and social connection, she completed an MSc in Environment, Culture & Society from the University of Edinburgh and an MA in Climate Action Leadership from Royal Roads University. She is a certified Environmental Professional (EP). Prior to joining the Retrofit Accelerator team, Amy worked with Alberta Ecotrust Foundation to coordinate the 2018 and 2019 Environmental Gatherings. Meanwhile, she took the opportunity to lead the sustainability portfolio at Bow Valley College for eight years, where she enacted the College’s climate action plan and created learning opportunities for students across a variety of academic programs. Amy is excited to be back with Alberta Ecotrust, connecting with various partner organizations in the Retrofit Accelerator and ENBIX ecosystems.

Brent Harris

COO, Eguana Inc.

Brent Harris is Founder and Chief Operating Officer at Eguana, a leading global supplier and operator of residential and commercial energy storage systems for utility grid services. Brent is an inventor of the Company’s technologies, has led the commercialization and early sales of its products, and is now responsible for Eguana’s global operations. He has a passion for decentralised energy in general and for energy storage in particular. He is an active proponent of changes to the management and regulation of our electric system that will enable greater adoption of decentralized and renewable energy technologies and has been actively engaged in various industry organisations in Canada and the US. He is currently a the Vice Chair of Decentralised Energy Canada, an industry association supporting innovation and commercialization in Canada’s decentralised energy sector.

Cheryl Perdomo Hernandez

VP, Green Sky Sustainability

Cheryl Perdomo, M.Sc., is an Environmental Management Systems specialist with 15 years of experience in sustainability and process improvement in multinational companies.  She holds an M.Sc. in Engineering Design, a B.Sc. in Agri‑Industrial Engineering, and the EPt designation from ECO Canada.  Now as VP at Green Sky Sustainability Consulting, she supports organizations in implementing practical, standards‑aligned Climate Change Mitigation and Adaptation strategies.

David Leonard

Managing Principal, METAFOR Architecture Inc.

David Leonard is the Managing Principal of METAFOR Architecture Inc., an Alberta-based multidisciplinary design firm committed to a collaborative and integrated approach to design thinking through the alignment of architecture, interior design, building envelope engineering, and building performance expertise. With more than 19 years of experience in the built environment, David brings a strong technical foundation and leadership perspective focused on improving how project teams make decisions and deliver results.  Throughout his career, David has been an advocate for performance-based design and the advancement of energy efficiency through better processes, clearer communication, and data-informed decision-making. He is passionate about helping the design and construction industry adapt to rapid shifts in technology, climate expectations, and evolving client needs. His work emphasizes the value of using analytics and emerging tools to reduce risk, improve building performance, and support more intentional and sustainable outcomes across all project types and sectors.  David holds Building Enclosure Commissioning designations and is a Professional Licensee (Eng.) (P.L.Eng.). In addition to leading METAFOR, he teaches building science at the University of Calgary’s School of Architecture, Planning and Landscape (SAPL) within the Master of Architecture program, supporting the next generation of designers in understanding building performance, sustainability, and real-world project delivery.  David is also committed to mentorship and community involvement, and believes that collaboration, curiosity, and accountability are essential to creating a more resilient and energy-conscious built environment.

Eduardo Rodriguez

Associate Director, Workplace Technology and Data, ATB

With over 15 years of experience in energy and sustainability, Eduardo specializes in bridging the gap between a high-level energy strategy and on-the-ground operations. His experience ranges from implementing energy sector iniatives in Latin America to providing utilities market analysis for Alberta municipalities. Currently, Edaurdo leads energy efficiency projects at ATB, focusing on reducing enterprise energy costs and carbon footprint. Eduardo holds dual Master’s degrees in Economics and International Relations from Syracuse University and is a Certified Energy Manager (CEM) through the Association of Energy Engineers.

Gabriela Wilson

Environment and Sustainability Director, ATB Financial - Calgary, AB

Gabriela Wilson is an accomplished engineer with over 20 years in the oil and gas industry, having held significant high-impact roles. For the past seven years, she has successfully transitioned into sustainability leadership, developing and implementing customized strategies, most recently at ATB Financial —including emissions reduction and sustainability integration—which positions her as a trusted advisor in the energy transition. She holds a Masters of Engineering and a B.Sc. in Civil Engineering with an Environmental focus from the University of Calgary, and as a Certified Sustainability Practitioner, she blends strong technical acumen with strategic sustainability insight to offer an impactful business perspective.

Joseph Henke

Program Specialist, Alberta Ecotrust Foundation

Joseph (Joe) Henke is a dedicated to reducing Greenhouse gas emissions and developing better communities. His background covers a diverse range of experience from steel manufacturing, to residential energy auditing.  Joe is a register Energy Advisor (REA) , and a Certified Energy Manager (CEM). Previous education includes GHG accounting practices, sustainability management, LEAN manufacturing and Six Sigma. He holds a degree in Materials Engineering.

Katarzyna Gajewska

Business Development & Senior Future Buildings Consultant, WSP

Katarzyna Gajewska is a Senior Consultant at WSP. She leads strategy and business development for Future Buildings in the greater Calgary region within the Commissioning team of the Properties & Buildings division. Her work spans high level advisory services such as developing and implementing beyond code design guidelines, supporting decarbonization strategies for retrofits, and applying green building standards. She also leads building performance analysis, including thermography and drone based assessments of large vertical infrastructure. She brings an energetic and practical perspective shaped by experience with low carbon demonstration projects and residential development. Katarzyna stays closely engaged with emerging technologies, AI applications, and industry trends. She helps clients create smarter, healthier, and more resilient buildings that contribute to community and culture well into the future.

Kelly Tallas

CEO, Solartility Group Inc.

Kelly Tallas is an energy innovator and entrepreneur advancing Alberta’s transition toward a more efficient, resilient, and distributed electricity system. As Co-founder and CEO of Solartility Group, he works at the intersection of clean technology, demand-side management, and grid modernization to deliver practical decarbonization solutions for communities and customers. Kelly is leading the implementation of residential virtual power plants (VPPs), including projects supporting Blatchford in Edmonton, alongside scalable approaches to energy efficiency and distributed storage. He is also developing agrivoltaics initiatives that integrate solar generation with agricultural land use to maximize both energy and land productivity. Through partnerships with municipalities, utilities, and clean energy stakeholders, Kelly helps bring innovative energy technologies into real-world deployment, with a focus on flexibility, electrification, and long-term grid sustainability.

Lee Wood

Director, Energy Transition Programs, CLEAResult Canada

Lee Wood is a seasoned DSM expert with over 20 years of experience designing, delivering, and evaluating programs that accelerate adoption of distributed energy resources. As the Director of Energy Transition Programs at CLEAResult, Lee leads a new national team delivering innovative energy programs across Canada. Previously, Lee led the rapid growth of California’s Demand Side Grid Support Program at Olivine, scaling DR capacity to over 500 MW. At LUMA Energy in Puerto Rico, he launched the utility’s first DR, EV, EE, and NEM programs to address the island’s critical generation shortfall. He also directed portfolio planning and evaluation for a $100 million DSM portfolio at Energy Efficiency Alberta, and spent a decade at Navigant Consulting supporting utilities across North America with program design, impact and process evaluation, cost-effectiveness modeling and regulatory strategy. Lee holds an MBA from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and brings a unique blend of strategic insight and technical expertise to the evolving energy landscape.

Mark Lindenbach

Program Manager Sustainability & Compliance, Avalon Homes

Mark Lindenbach serves as the Program Manager, Sustainability & Compliance at Avalon Master Builder, where he leads the development and implementation of transformative strategies that align construction practices with the principles of Net Zero stewardship and sustainability excellence. Widely recognized as a leader in Net Zero and resilient building, Mr. Lindenbach serves as Co-Chair of the Canadian Home Builders’ Association (CHBA). Net Zero Technical Committee and Resiliency Working Group and contributes as a technical advisor to the development of the CHBA Net Zero Labeling Program, Version 2. He recently represented Avalon as a case study participant in the NRCan/LEEP Regional Case Study Project, which examined the impacts of climate-related extreme weather—fire, flood, high wind events, and hail—through the lens of sustainable, low-carbon, and resilient design. Avalon is currently engaged in a pilot project with the Institute for Catastrophic Loss Reduction (ICLR) and the CHBA, exploring the use of sustainable building products and resilient construction practices to enhance community durability and reduce environmental impact. Drawing on a distinguished dual background in fire safety and regulatory compliance, Mr. Lindenbach brings decades of experience as a Senior Fire Officer and Fire Safety Codes Officer, ensuring that Avalon’s projects consistently achieve the highest standards of safety, sustainability, and performance integrity. His work bridges policy development, applied innovation, and operational execution, advancing the creation of communities that embody both environmental responsibility and long-term resilience.

Mary Pupo

Energy & Sustainability Manager, Otipemisiwak Métis Government of the Métis Nation within Alberta

Mary Pupo is the Energy and Sustainability Manager for the Otipemisiwak (Oh-teh-pim-swak) Métis Government of the Métis Nation within Alberta. She works within the Environment and Climate Change department, where she leads initiatives that advance climate leadership for both the Métis government and its citizens. Mary’s work spans energy efficiency, energy management, renewable energy, and sustainability—all aligned with the Otipemisiwak Métis Government’s Climate Change Action Plan. With a background in energy science, she brings a strong technical foundation paired with a deep understanding of the broader forces shaping climate action in Alberta. Guided by a passion for community-rooted solutions and forward-thinking approaches, Mary is committed to developing innovative programs that empower communities and reflect their values, voices, and vision for a more sustainable future.

Michael Driedger

Principal, MCW Consultants

Michael is a Principal in MCW’s Vancouver office, and is the Growth and Innovation Leader for Western Canada. He has more than 20 years of experience in sustainable building consulting, energy efficiency, and high‑performance design across healthcare, laboratory, civic, education, institutional, transit, and light industrial sectors. His expertise includes sustainable design, LEED and Living Building certification, energy modelling reviews, measurement and verification strategies, policy development, and large‑scale decarbonization planning. In his leadership role, Michael works closely with MCW’s Western Canada management team and the National Modelling Group, guiding interdisciplinary teams across Vancouver, Calgary, and Edmonton to advance energy performance, low‑carbon transformation, and integrated design approaches. He plays a key role in shaping MCW’s strategic growth initiatives, particularly where digital transformation, innovation, and energy efficiency intersect. Michael has also contributed to Canada’s clean technology ecosystem as the co‑founder of two successful proptech companies—Airsset, focused on indoor air quality analytics, and Operto, which supports energy and operational optimization in the lodging industry. Both ventures reflect his commitment to scalable, data‑driven solutions that improve performance, reduce emissions, and enhance occupant well‑being. Across his career, Michael has led or supported energy modelling, deep carbon reduction studies, incentive pathway analysis, and high‑performance retrofit strategies for a wide range of clients. His work centres on integrating practical, achievable energy efficiency measures with forward‑looking innovation, helping organizations transition toward more efficient, resilient, and sustainable buildings.

Michelle Hauer

Program Specialist, Retrofit Accelerator Coach, Alberta Ecotrust Foundation

Michelle Hauer works with Alberta Ecotrust Foundation as a Program Specialist with their Buildings Team. She supports the development of deep energy retrofit resources like case studies, guidelines, and tools. Michelle has been working in the buildings industry for over five years and is especially interested in building decarbonization. In her previous work, Michelle has developed promotional materials to highlight sustainable building technologies, hosted tours of high-performance "green" buildings, reported on sustainable building operations and maintenance practices, and contributed to the design of building energy retrofits. She has also supported renewable and clean technology development, including carbon credit reporting and forecasting for industrial-scale wind and solar power projects.

Tayber Yastremski

Tayber Yastremski is the President of Sustainable Projects Group and a nationally recognized expert in moving energy efficiency from audit to execution. He earned his Masters of Engineering in Clean Energy Engineering, holds a CEM and EP designation, is the past president of the Association of Energy Engineers Alberta and BC Chapters and is recognized as one of Canada’s Clean50. Tayber has overseen thousands of implemented projects across Canada and is known for developing portfolio-level approaches that connect technical audits to capital planning, construction, and Net Zero delivery. His work focuses on making energy strategy actionable at scale within real-world operational and financial constraints.
