Melanie Ross joined the Green Building Technologies research team as Manager in 2019 with much experience in green building certifications and development of sustainability policy and planning tools. She has acted as the key point of contact for the energy modelling and commissioning teams for Integral Group (Calgary), liaising with mechanical and electrical engineering teams to ensure holistic integration of sustainability into all aspects of the firm’s work.
Melanie’s ten+ years of experience with recognized architecture, planning and engineering firms has brought her a deeper understanding of the industry and a respect for various stakeholder viewpoints. Her work with the Canadian Green Building Council (CaGBC) as a reviewer, faculty, and on taskforces gives her intimate knowledge of LEED, WELL, and green building project strategies. Combined with her tenure as Chair of the Alberta Chapter of the CaGBC, she strives to effect positive change building by building. Her four+ years of experience in communication and marketing enhances a people-focused skillset and is supported by her ongoing marketing and advocacy work with CREW Calgary (Commercial Real Estate Women). Melanie is a founding board member of the Smart Sustainable Resilient Infrastructure Association (SSRIA); its vision is to revolutionize the design, construction, and operations of infrastructure.
